 Margaret Davis is a singer, Celtic harper, and flutist who has dedicated
her life to performing original arrangements of Celtic and Medieval music. With a
degree in Music and graduate studies in Medieval French and Provençal, she combines
academic knowledge with a deep love and understanding of the language and music of
the troubadours. Margaret also creates her own interpretations of the Celtic music
of her Scottish heritage, melding Celtic and Medieval together in concert to forge
a beautiful new musical blend.
Known
primarily for her beautiful crystal-clear vocals, Margaret is also part of the
new generation of folk harp players dedicated to recreating the ancient sounds of
Celtic and Medieval harp music. Classically trained on flute and recorder as well,
Margaret adds the haunting voices of these instruments to the evocative music of
her harp and song. Margaret has been performing since 1986 as a soloist, in the duo
Margaret & Kristoph, as
lead singer of Celtic/Renaissance band Brocelïande and as one of the leaders of Celtic rock band Avalon
Rising. She has performed internationally at festivals,
clubs, universities, conventions, and live on radio. She has recorded 10 CDs on the
Flowinglass Music label; her music has also been featured on educational CD-ROMS,
on computer games, in videos, and is widely broadcast on traditional and Internet
radio stations. Her Medieval and Celtic songs have charted in the top 10 in the Medieval
and Celtic genres at mp3.com.
