Princess of FlowersPRINCESS OF FLOWERS
THE QUINTESSENCE OF MEDIEVAL ROMANCE
Beautiful new CD of Celtic, Renaissance and Medieval music for voice, Celtic harp, and acoustic instruments, by Margaret Davis. Princess of Flowers takes the listener on a mythic journey to Medieval times. Margaret Davis's debut recording features celestial vocals plus the magical interplay of Celtic harp, guitar, cello, recorders, hurdy-gurdy, Middle-Eastern percussion, and the Medieval vielle. This atmospherically lovely CD features original arrangements of Celtic folk songs, Renaissance dances, and Medieval troubadour melodies. The lyrics, some in French, Latin, and Gaelic, speak of love and longing, quests and revels, magic and transformation in an evocative style that will transport and enchant you.
Fans of Loreena McKennitt, and Enya will enjoy this exciting recording!

and understanding of Medieval, Renaissance,
and traditional ageless music, and the
mysterious appeal to the imagination
which keeps them fresh."

her clear soprano and harp playing I cannot praise enough."
-Peg Healy, reviewer, the folknik

Margaret DavisMARGARET DAVIS
is a singer, Celtic harper, and flutist who has dedicated her life to performing her original arrangements of Celtic, Medieval, and Renaissance music. With her degree in Music and graduate studies in Medieval French and Provencal, she combines academic knowledge with a deep love and understanding of the language and music of the troubadours. Margaret also creates her own interpretations of the Celtic music of her Scottish heritage, melding Celtic and Medieval together to forge a beautiful new musical blend. Known primarily as a vocalist, Margaret is also one of the new generation of harp players dedicated to recreating the ancient sounds of Celtic and Medieval harp music. Classically trained on flute and recorder as well, Margaret adds the haunting voices of these instruments to the evocative music of her harp and song, creating a richly textured tapestry of sound that melds ancient and modern, recapturing the feel of earlier times while resonating to the contemporary ear. Margaret has been performing since 1986 solo, as lead singer of Celtic/Renaissance band
Broceliande and as one of the leaders of Celtic rock band Avalon Rising. With Avalon Rising, she has recorded and produced 2 critically acclaimed albums: Avalon Rising (Flowinglass Music 1995), and Storming Heaven (Flowinglass Music 2004). Her latest release is Princess of Flowers (Flowinglass Music 1998). She has performed nationally at festivals, clubs, universities, literary and religious conventions, and on radio.
