Bio Information Maureen discovered Sacred Circle Dance in 1993. In 1995 she became a teacher. Over the years she has danced with the Bay Area Circle Dancers and is currently one of the organizers. She led a group at the Starr King Unitarian Universalist Church in Hayward, CA for 10 years and a group at Labyrinth Dance Studio in San Leandro, CA for one year. Her love for dance led her back to college. As an undergraduate she studied at Cal State East Bay in Hayward, CA majoring in Liberal Studies with concentration in Dance. In November, 2008 Maureen re-started her San Leandro group at its new location at All Saints Episcopal Church. In September 2010 she received her Masters in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Somatic Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. At her internship Maureen currently leads a weekly group. |
Prior Accomplishments Maureen has taught workshops and participated in a variety of programs. She has conducted sacred dance for a number of churches in Northern California, including dance worships, church installations and memorial services, interfaith services and church conferences. She has been involved with elementary schools, retreats, a book signing for Iris J. Stewart, author of Sacred Woman, Sacred Dance, festivals, fund raisers and has taught for private parties. She has done consultation work and dance choreography.

Staying Involved Maureen attends workshops on a regular basis to learn more about dance. Before embarking on academia she traveled to Ireland, England, Canada and the New England area. As a member of the Bay Area Circle Dancers she stays involved with all of the annual weekend workshops. She regularly attends the annual California Herdeljezi Festival put on by Voices of Roma in Sebastopol. She has studied with Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute in Kentfield, CA.
